Test post to Posterous

This is a text post.

I'm basically comparing Posterous and Tumblr auto-posting capabilities. Surprising that syndicating content is that hard to do. All I'm trying to do is:

  • Use one of the micro-blogging platforms to show photos and videos.
  • Have the content (not just a link to the content) show up on Wordpress.com and in the Facebook news feed.
  • Seems like Posterous puts in on my Wall but not the News Feed.
  • Seems like Tumblr puts it on both the Wall and the News Feed.
  • Both seem to break Wordpress.com's 2-column layout.
One step at a time.

Formosa Bento

In the foreground, a traditional Taiwanese beef noodle soup every bit as delicious as it looks. In the rear: miso noodle soup and the pork chop bento (both winners as well).

Crazy Hair Day at Gloria Dei

Cameron wanted a mohawk but didn't get up early enough for mom to gel him up. Most of his boy classmates showed up with the real mohawk (or as much as their short hair would permit). Must be a boy thing.

At Koriander Indian Restaurant

Colin enjoyed looking at his reflection in this beautiful metal plate on which was served equally beautiful garlic naan. Sorry, too hungry to take pictures of the naan before we ate it.  Maybe next time.

(Also, trying to sort through the various permutations of posting pictures using Posterous, Tumblr, Wordpress, and Blogger to figure out what the easiest way of sharing photos and videos is. Leave a comment fi you've figured this out. Here's what I'd like have happen: easy posting by email, photos and videos show up on Facebook as actual photos and videos (not just links) and the same post is archived on the blog, preferably Wordpress. Though would be ok that that were Blogger now that they have non-amateur looking templates.)

Is this how you're supposed to play on the tire swing?

I don't know since I never played on a tire swing growing up, but this doesn't seem right to me.

The blog is moving

In the age of Facebook, I'm not sure anyone visits this old blog anymore.

But for the few die-hards out there, we're likely moving to Wordpress. The features seem to be iterating faster there, and I do like the look and feel of the Wordpress themes.

It's also easier to customize the page layout (including the widgets on the right side of the page), and you can also easily add complete standalone pages (like this About Us page).

The whole Blogger archive is now over on Wordpress. Barring any show-stopper bugs or feature deficiencies (e.g., haven't tried uploading photos or anything fancy like that yet), we'll see you over there.

Humor FAIL

It's hilarious listening to kids as they explore humor. Here are a few decidedly not funny jokes the kids told tonight.

Knock knock
Cameron: Knock knock.
Colin: Who's there?
Cameron: Come on in, I'm going to put a diaper on you.

A joke about a duck
Cameron: Why did the duck take the train?
Katye: Because he left his car in a parking lot.
Colin: Because he couldn't reach the gas pedals.
Cameron: No, because he was cranky!
